I was pulled over Friday night and searched and the cop found two ectasy pills. I told him I had no intent to sell or take them, and that a friend had left them in my car. I went to jail Friday through Sunday and they towed my car. I was released and given a court date in April. However my car is being held and I can't get it. They have not yet said if it's for evidence or forfeiture. How can I get my car back or will I? This is my first record and I haven't been deemed guilty yet. What should I do? What options do I have? What can I expect to happen next? I'm scared and unaware how any of this works. Please help!
You only have two: Lawyer up and Shut up. Talk to nobody but your lawyer about this. Don’t post. Don’t journal and don’t reply to any police contact. You’ve already foolishly talked to police. Don’t compound your mistake.
The good news is your home town has tons of really good defense lawyers. Grab one.
You seem young. Don’t let this ruin your life be not following the rules of engagement.
Every Good Wish.
Mr. Cameron has given you excellent advice. Look for the best damn criminal defense lawyer you can find and afford. Now is the time to have a heart felt conversation with mom and dad. This would also be a great opportunity to soul search. Decide if the people in your life that you call “friends” are truly friends or people that are just holding you back in life. Remember you are judged by whom you keep company. Finally, Remember that they don’t call it “dope” for no reason. I truly wish you the best of luck.
This is a serious felony offense and you need to retain a local, experienced criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. As Mr. Cameron stated, you should not be discussing the facts of this case online. Good luck.
