Hello Nadine my name is Mayra I living in New York and I would like to bring my brother to US I did the petition already and USCIS received on Sept 14, 2016 but that's it. I am worry about and here in New York the lawyers are not familiar with Cubans laws and they told me I do have to wait more than 10 years and so on. Could you please tell me what can I do, I am desperate thanks Mayra
You have to go by the Visa Bulletin. There might be another way. If you felt uncomfortable with the attorneys that you have spoken to, look for another that deals with a lot of Cuban clients. Good luck.
Attorney answers to questions are for general purposes only and do not establish an attorney-client relationship.
No lawyer can make the Visa Bulletin move faster, and as the sibling of a US citizen, your brother is in the F-4 immigrant visa category, which is subject to annual quota backlogs of approximately 12 years. Even when your petition on his behalf is approved, it will not make him eligible to immigrate until the priority date becomes current. You may want to consult with an attorney to learn more about how this process works.
This is general information only, and is not intended as a substitute for legal advice. Communications in an online forum do not create an attorney-client relationship. For legal advice specific to your circumstances, you must consult an attorney in a private, confidential setting.
