What can I do to resolve this issue?

I’d need just a little more detail about your situation although you’ve provided a good initial picture. My office routinely gets warrants vacated and gets our clients on the right track. This can be done affordably and effectively depending on the situation. The worst thing you can do is nothing. You’ll do yourself some good reaching out to any attorney here on Avvo to see what can be done. The warrant will never go away and it’ll stifle your ability to move upward and onward.

Due to COVID, the court clerks are much more amenable to help people out. I would suggest you call the court and ask them to file proof of compliance by mail. If a warrant was already issued, you will likely have to contact legal aid and ask them to help you vacate the warrant. Usually, a personal appearance is required to vacate a warrant but your situation (full compliance) plus COVID may allow the Court to be more lenient and vacate your warrant and close out your case without having to personally appear. The only way to find out is by calling the Court and legal aid if necessary. Another option is hiring an attorney to take care of this for you.

If you are still not in a position to hire private counsel, you should call your previous attorney or the clerk's office for the Court. Due to COVID-19, many cases are being done through video conference. The clerk may be able to get your case scheduled for video conference for proof of class completion and payment. You can also retain private counsel for the sole purpose of trying to get this resolved through video, or getting the judge to accept a letter from the attorney with proof of payment and completion of your class, instead of making you appear in person. Please contact any the Avvo criminal defense attorneys for a further consultation and best of luck with your case.
