I barely make ends meet with my child support making 13$ an hour. I pay 430$ a month and just got slapped with a letter saying there is a medical support order but, the order I have has stated either one of us can get child support. It does not specifically say me. I offer to put my child on my medical last year and my ex refused. I am tired of getting my pockets picked by this ridiculous government and always being on the verge of homelessness. I was originally supposed to have a financial thing done before my support and was told I'd be called but never was and they just started deducting what they felt like. I was also scheduled for more appointments that I could not make due to refusal of video conference and not being able to drive 300 miles back and forth to Colorado.
You can try to modify your child support order if it has been more then a year since the last one was entered.
Child support can be modified when you file a motion to modify with the courts. Doing that creates a potential date of retroactivity, meaning that if the court does lower the number, it goes back and lowers the number as of the date you filed your motion!! An experienced family law attorney can help you prepare the paperwork and it will not cost an arm and a leg!
In no way am I offering you legal advice, and in no way has my comment created an attorney-client relationship. You are not to rely upon my note above in any way, but insted need to sit down with counsel and share all relevant facts before receiving fully-informed legal advice. If you want to be completely sure of your rights, you must sit down with an experienced criminal defense attorney to be fully aware of your rights.
