I owe back child support . I was a heavy drug and alcohol user and failed marriage with my depression I removed myself everything as far living as a productive citizen . With no help from anyone I am cleaned up and trying to raise my daughter as single parent . I have no idea where to start to protect myself are my daughter
Try to consult family law counsel. The obligee to the support can waive, forgive or release some arrears such as interest. If that is not an option, you just have to pay it down the best you can, and pay every month as much as you can bear. If you had any way to borrow any of the money owed, you might get better interest.

I agree that you should contact counsel immediately to to directly address your situation. Sometimes if you file to determine the arrearage, there is a boost in our credibility, but this is risky. You shoudl be prepared to pay a lump sum toward the amount. Mr. Baker is correct that the other parent may agree to forgive some of the amount due, if that is palatable.
