I'm unable to work due to disability. I do have a disability lawyer n said the case could take 12 to 24 months. It's been 13 months at the beginning of Jan. My landlord has NEVER fixed anything that was wrong w the apt since I moved in. I've dealt with it bc I was going threw a nasty, violent divorce. I'm on Medicaid n my state assistance is only $210 a month. My rent is now $1000. a month. I'm out of money but love where I live, I'm safe here.
Your disability lawyer should have resourse leads for you, but the most pressing issue I see now is: have you applied for housing assistence? If not, you need to do that as soon as possible. Otherwise, if you don't pay the rent, the landlord will be able evict you and you will be forced to move. Do not delay - apply for assistence now.
You may qualify for Legal Aid in the event of eviction proceedings. If the landlord files eviction proceedings, contact Burlington County Legal Aid. They may be able to assist you free of charge.
You should contact your own attorney before deciding on a course of action.
