A person on my street claims I banged on their door at night shoving beer down my pants. It was on video. Problem is: it wasn’t me. The neighborhood is telling everyone that was me. My reputation has gone down the tubes. I have unrelated ptsd already, so this duress is killing me. I do know who it was and have it writing that it was in fact her while she was drunk. We look similar.... but I wouldn’t say ‘that similar.’ I can’t even go outdoors now due to the shame. Shame of something I had nothing to do with. Please help.
You can sue in court if you have been defamed and you can identify an individual or individuals---can't sue a 'neighborhood'. Unfortunately, absent actual economic damages it may not be worth the trouble. Perhaps you can have this person stop showing the video by showing them that its not you.
