I went to get a broken tooth pulled last Friday. The dentist slipped with a tool and put a little hole in the top of my cheek. He also slipped with the pliers and hit my front tooth. Didn't chip thank goodness. He didn't take the time to get the rest of the root out my mouth. He said that if he can't get it out he is leaving it in there. He tries a couple times and didn't get it out. He told me that when my gums heal and if I have pain and stuff then I would have to go to an oral surgeon. He never even gave me a referral. My face is still black and blue from when he was pushing down real hard with the pliers. My mouth still hurts. I went to urgent care a few days later because my ears started to hurt. They gave me a different antibiotic along with some ibruprofen. They said my mouth looks bad and wanted to know why he didn't refer me to an oral surgeon. Urgent care said I NEED to get that root out my mouth. So now I have to go thru unnecessary oral surgery because he didn't take the time to take the rest of the root out. I had to make an appt with a different dentist to see if i can get a referral. I refuse to go back to that dentist after what he did to my mouth.
Yes. You should have gone to an oral surgeon to begin with. Make sure there is no nerve injury on your face when you heal.
