I was admitted to the hospital and had to miss a court date. I contacted my public defender to ask him to share the information to explain my absence. And he outright REFUSED and said he doesn't do that. So he refused to represent me and a warrant was issued because of it . I was arrested on Thanksgiving and spent 8 days waiting to see the judge. Once he verified my hospital admission , I was immediately released. But had the judge received the info from my attorney, no warrant would've been issued. I feel as though my attorney let me down and was even angry with me and said I would be punished since it doesn't matter why I missed court. So I sat in jail for 8 days because I was too sick to come to court and was in he hospital..and my attorney acted as if it was my fault and I lost my freedom over Thanksgiving because of his blatant lack of represention. He has also refused any requests I've made of him concerning any motions in my defense. He is going to cost me everything. Is there anyone I can contact to help me with his unprofessional conduct?
I am sorry to hear that happened to you. You might have a claim against the lawyer, but you should NOT discus ti further in this public forum. Often, some facts differ, at least from a perspective standpoint, so sitting down and talking with a lawyer with all the papers involved really helps to sort things out. You should try to do that so you learn where you stand. Again - what you describe should not have happened.
