I was in a car accident and didn't have a valid drivers license and didn't have IID on the vehicle what are the penalties for that I'm very concerned of jail time?
It is both a new violation and also a violation of your probation for either a DUI or prior Suspended license convictions.
Did the police arrest/cite you at the scene?
You should talk to an experienced criminal defense attorney in person to go over the reason you don't have a license and no IID.
If the new case is in the same Courthouse as the case requiring the IID, jail is a distinct possibility...
As Mr. Kestenbaum wrote, you are looking at both a new case and a probation violation. Driving on a suspended license is a serious matter, an accident (likely without insurance) is also serious, you need to contact a criminal defense attorney to determine how to get your license back and deal with these legal issues.
This answer is not legal advice, it may not even be relevant to the question answered, it definitely is does not establish an attorney/client relationship.
You're facing jail and a probation violation. Hire an attorney to mitigate the situation.
I am licensed attorney in Washington and California who focuses Serious DUI Cases such a 2nd DUIs, 3rd DUIs, 4th DUIs, and Felony DUIs and DMV hearings. I also have much experience handling car accident cases. Although the information I provide is helpful, it is not legal advice. Although Avvo makes it clear to consumers that attorney answers to questions are for general purposes only and do not establish an attorney-client relationship, some attorneys prefer to add their own disclaimers to answers. You can set your custom disclaimer here and it will be automatically added to your answers. Do NOT include any direct solicitations or contact information.
