I was married in 83 marriage lasted 2 months file for a divorce in the state of New Jersey. Never signed. Married for a second time and got divorced 2 years later. Remarried again in 95. And I have been happy married for 23 years. On 6/22/18. Was notified the first wife passed way. What happens to my marriage now?
When you said you filed for divorce in New Jersey but "never signed", I am not sure what you meant. Do you mean the New Jersey divorce was never completed? If so, are you saying that you married two more times without divorcing the first wife?
It appears that the death of your first wife probably resolved the bigamy issue as to the second marriage as death terminates a marriage. But I would definitely seek legal advice from a New Jersey family law attorney to give you assurance that the first divorce was in fact never completed or WAS completed, perhaps by a default final judgment of which you may not be aware.
