(1) You could find a new place and move;
(2) You could get the repairs done yourself and then withhold the expense you paid from your rent; OR
(3) You could sue your landlord for damages
Your relationship with your landlord is governed by the Nebraska Uniform Residential Landlord Tenant Act. The Act details what a landlord must do, such as make necessary repairs within a reasonable time, and what a landlord is prohibited from doing, such as cutting off electricity. There are, of course, things that you must do and things that you are prohibited from doing as a tenant. I suggest you go read the Act so that you have a good understanding of those duties. Then, I would give notice to your landlord, in writing, with respect to any right or obligation you are claiming and cite to the proper place in the Act. If the landlord fails to cure defects and perform the obligations required of it under the Act after a defined period of time, I would get an attorney to take it to the next level.
