I live in ny with my daughter, previously loved in Texas she was born and lived in my until she was 6. her father and I moved to Texas and he left, we were never married, we hadn't heard from him in over a year so I moved back to my to be with family in April 2018. Her father filed for full custody in July 2018, we went to court in Sept 2018. Judge issued temporary orders. We were supposed to go back for a final hearing in July 2019. I took the week off and we were sitting in new jersey on a layover when my attorney called and said they had canceled. I haven't heard anything since. I can't file child support until I have a final order. My lawyer isn't doing anything and I don't know what to do
If you don't like your lawyer, fire them and hire a new one. Make sure you can afford another one before you do. It is NOT true that you have to wait to final hearing to get child support. Did you not get child support ordered in your temporary orders? If you have not already done so file for free child support services through the Texas Attorney General.
