My daughter has been a victim of bullying over the last year (multiple physical threats have been made against her, cyrber bullying, an instance of her being pushed down to the ground, etc). The principal has failed to do anything effective to prevent these acts. I found another mother that had her child transfered out of the school for the same issue by the same bully. The child committing these acts has not been punished. Another child from the school may be in the process of being pulled out of the school due to bullying as well. All 3 girls have darker skin tones. 2 are Latin and 1 Fijian. The bullies to my knowledge are all blonde haired blue eyed and white as is the principal. I feel this lack of attention to these issues may be due to discrimination. What can we as parents do?
As a Granite City, Madison County, Illinois attorney, it would be our recommendation that communication immediately be with the principal, superintendent and/or trustees. If that does not work, consideration should be given to filing a lawsuit.
