A risk manager from the hospital is threatening to start legal proceedings on me for my dad. I am his POA. He has been discharged for three months, however, I have not been able to find an adequate facility for him since he is unable to go back to his own apartment alone and I am unable to care for him for medical reasons. The options they have presented to me are with facilities that I am currently beginning a lawsuit with due to abuse/neglect which put my father in the hospital in the first place.
Instead of getting legal advice on an online legal forum - which involves specific circumstances regarding your Dad, I'd recommend you sit down in person with an Elder Law / Litigation attorney. See Avvo.com under 'Find-A-Lawyer'. Good Luck to & your Dad.
If you find this answer helpful, please mark it here on AVVO as helpful. My answer is based on the limited facts presented. It doesn’t create an attorney-client relationship. Use the ‘Find-A-Lawyer’ search engine at the top of this page and follow proper legal advice.

While you are trying to find the best accommodations for your Dad, you may want to care for him or arrange to have someone care for him.
