I work for an IT consultancy firm based out of Edison, NJ. I came in US in 2014 on B1 visa, later changes my visa to L1 A and last year October visa changed to H1 B. When company was filing H1 B visa they asked my sign a contract which I did. Contracts says that I have to stay with them for 15 months or else I have to pay them money. For last 3 months they have not given me any work and I don't want to waste my time sitting idle so I decided to look for better work.I got good opportunity. I wanted to join a new company but I am afraid of paying charges. I can provide contract docs. Advice me. I
These companies that bring in workers from other countries take advantage of those workers very badly. to know whether you can succeed in your plan an attorney would need to review your contract. I thought that you had to be paid "on bench" for the time you were not working. bring your contract to a lawyer for help in deciding what your options are.
