So I'm working on an argumentative essay for my high school English class and I was wondering why is having a platonic relationship with a minor acceptable and if there is any legal way to prevent said platonic relationship?
We're not going to do your homework for you. The "why" question is looking for your opinions.
The one thing I will tell you (because I've said it a hundred times answering other questions) is that states do not make laws about platonic relationships. The laws that exist are there to limit sexual contact involving minors.
Be aware that this response does not create an attorney/client relationship. I live and work in Massachusetts and may or may not know the local laws where you live. I hope people find my responses not only helpful but somewhat entertaining as well. If you rely on this as legal advice, remember the old saying, "You get what you pay for."
This is not a homework site.
Having others do your "deep thinking" for you really doesn't advance your education.
I am sure you will internet research and think your way to a good answer.
The above is general legal and business analysis. It is not "legal advice" but analysis, and different lawyers may analyse this matter differently, especially if there are additional facts...
