My Mother died a month ago and my brother is executor. He had my other brother that never left home (62) sign a 1 year lease and pays taxes and insurance in lieu of rent (no mortgage). There are 5 heirs and my 2 brothers made this decision without any discussion or consent from me and 2 sisters.
I asked if I could put up a for sale sign and answered no, not for a year because of this lease.
If your brother was named executor, he may make decisions on behalf of the estate without consulting you.
That being said, if you think he is not acting in the estate's best interests, there is a legal process to have him removed. This is something you should consider carefully before doing, as it will not be good for family harmony.
