I was in a single car colission while on formal probation. I had recently been evicted from my home and had to move my car that was not being driven but also did not have current tags. It then was brought to my attention that i had a suspended license for some accident that i was NEVER in nor aware of. I am trying to find out the details of the suspension and how to clear it but the registration cannot be paid. When i was evicted i not only lost my home but my home business as well. I am destitute and have no current income
Please can you advise
So sorry to hear that you have fallen on such tough times. The vehicle registration is not as serious as the suspended license. Your public defender can determine why your license is suspended and then give you some advice on how to clear that up. You can also argue that you were not aware of your suspension because of your circumstances. It's impossible to predict the punishment without much more information. Wish you the best of luck.
As others have pointed out it's difficult to answer this question without knowing what the terms of your formal probation are. At the least it likely includes a provision to not violate the law. However this typically means misdemeanors or felonies and does not include traffic infractions. Depending on why your license was suspended it may be possible that these charges are just infractions. Also, you must have had knowledge that your license was suspended.
You should contact an attorney before speaking with your probation officer so they can look at the documents you have and better advise you. If you can't afford an attorney and the suspended license charge is a misdemeanor you can ask for a public defender at your arraignment.
