What are the chances of cops catching you on a suspended license? Can they run license plates as a random search?
Can the police see that the suspension was due to a DUI?

Don't risk it. There's virtually no expectation of privacy in a license plate and oh boy do cops run em on drivers. Caught? Boom, jail and additional loss of license. Do it again and six months of jail minimum. If it's your second dui you just need to get caught once and you're going for 6 months. Only option is reopen old cases and try get em off your record but that'll cost you 10's of thousands of dollars. Truly not worth it. I would not risk it.
Enhanced 3-40 is a mandatory 10-90 days jail, additional $1000 fine over the $500 for the driving suspended., another $250.year surcharge and 9 more insurance points. If this is a second or more DWI it is a crime, called a felony in other States, with a 180 mandatory parole stipon a plea or 270 in State prison before parole. The cops run plates and the technology is such that they scan and immediately see your driving history. Not only that but even a relative's car will likely bring up your history and if the description matches they can stop you there too. They normally run every car on the road. Do not drive.

You are kidding us when you ask if the police can see if it was for a DUI, right? Ok, well you will not be laughing if you get caught-the penalties for a basic first driving while suspended are tough; now you are staring down the barrel of a $1000 fine, $300 surcharge a year for 3 years; at least 1 year additional suspension and 10-90 days in jail.
If you never drive during your suspension - 0%
Absolutely - your license plates are out there in the open world in plain view for the entire public to see.
If caught the police may even tow your car and you may even wind up going to jail.
Most squad cars, if not all, are equipped with computer data bases where they may look up your arrest history

The chances are very high you will be found because a lot of police officers have license plate scanners in their car. It will show that your license is suspended and then when the cop stops you he will find out the reason why you were suspended. In your case it will be because of a DWI which equals mandatory jail time of at least 10 days and up to 18 months depending on the reason.

You would be an absolute moron to drive while suspended for a DWI. Many if not most cruisers automatically run plates they drive past and if a car is registered to a suspended driver they will pull him over for that. And if you have an accident - EVEN IF SOMEONE RUNS INTO YOU - you will be in jail for months. And not drive for additional time. And if someone gets hurt you will be in jail for six months and have a criminal record. It is a serious offense, and your suspension has TEETH. When you go to court the prosecutor and judge will see that it is for a DWI and you will be sentenced accordingly.

You are playing with FIRE. Yes, they can legally do random license plate look-ups (and often do). Further, the cars now have automatic license plate readers which alert the officer that a license plate belongs to a driver who is suspended. If you get caught you are in for a world of hurt.
First Offense DWI, and First driving while suspended, 10 days in jail and 1 to 2 years license suspension.
First DWI, second driving while suspended, 6 to 18 months in prison, 1 to 2 year license suspension, and a criminal record.
Second + DWI and any driving while suspended,6 to 18 months in prison, 1 to 2 year license suspension, and a criminal record.
What amazes me, is that you were warned about this by the judge when you pleaded guilty. You are really asking for trouble here. DON'T DRIVE!
the chances are too great to risk it. If you are caught you will go to jail, even on a first offense. Your license will be suspended for at least an addition year. You can not get out of it by just paying fines, and depending on the number of dwi's in your past and the number of times you get charged with driving while suspended for the dwi, you may be indicted on a fourth degree crime which carries 18 mos of state prison with a 6 month parole ineligibility. DO NOT DRIVE.
The police vehicles have scanners that will catch your license plate and alert the officer that your license is suspended. Once they pull you over they will know that you are suspended for a DUI.
If you are convicted for driving while suspended for a DUI you will serve jail time because it is mandatory.
You should have listened while the Judge was speaking. He warned you of the penalties and they are real. You can't pay a fine in lieu of jail.
