Did you purchase your car from a dealership or a private party? If you purchased it from a private party, then you may have some recourse under contract law. You should definitely contact an attorney if this is the case.
A dealership would need to perform its obligation under the "we owe" that is written on your bill of sale to fix the air compressor. You would need to check the buyer's guide (document that should have been in the window when you went to buy the car) to see what can be done about the shifting gears and blinking lights. If you believe that you have been wronged by a car dealership, you do have some steps you can take on your own before hiring an attorney. You can contact the Consumer Protection Unit at the GA Attorney General's office (www.consumer.ga.gov) to file a complaint. Send a copy of your complaint to the dealership. If this is a used car dealership (it only sells used, not new, cars), then you can also complain to the used car licensing board (www.sos.ga.gov/plb/submitcomplaint.php). You should also contact the used car licensing board to find out if the dealership has a surety bond, since they are required to have a $35,000 bond in Georgia. You may be able to file a claim for reimbursement on the surety bond.
