Ive been working for a small company for 3.5 years as "contract" labor. I am in the same building as an owner of the company. Besides myself and him, there are only 2-4 other people at any given moment, and only 2 are registered fulltime employees (I am parttime). Within the past 3 months, the owner (my boss) has begun to make increasingly crude remarks of a sexual nature and started cornering me when the other two were out of the room. About a month ago, he grabbed my behind and declared it was worth 500$. I reported him to the other manager who said to let him know if he did anything else. I started avoiding him as much as I could, and he began texting me asking why I was upset at him. After avoiding him as much as possible for 2-3 weeks, this past week he cornered me at my desk so I couldnt get up and said his offer was still valid. What are my options, since it is a private company with under 15 employees and I was designated as "contract labor"? Would this go anywhere either in a court of law or in civil court? I have no witnesses to this because he always waits until we are alone.
In some cases, local ordinance might provide some relief. In addition to discrimination, some of what you have described would likely qualify as a battery. I suggest that you speak with a lawyer familiar with employment variety claims and that you do so face to face.
