My ex-husband and I divorced in 2006. Through the divorce, he was ordered to pay $438/month. The case was turned over to DHR. He made payments here and there. They never tried to have him arrested for non-payment nor tried to get any form of payment unless I showed my anger with them. About 3 years ago, I remarried and last May, my husband adopted my children because their "father" was no where in the picture. He is currently $20,000 in the hole with his arrears. I contacted DHR and they said he was only required to pay $35 a month for arrears after the adoption. If that is the case, it will take him 47 years to pay off. Is this correct, or should I hire an attorney???? Please help!
