I live around Houston Texas, and I want to leave home. I will be 17 soon, when I turn 17 can I leave without being files as a runaway and being forced to return to my parents home? I have my own reasons for wanting to leave.
18 years old is the answer to your question. Not 17.

No, you can't legally leave home at 17 without being considered a runaway. Your must be 18. You are not the first or last teenager who thinks the grass will be greener on the other side. It's not. Work it out with your parents and when you turn 18, you can do what you want. Good luck.
You must be 18 or they could report you as a runaway. Best option is to work it out with your parents or maybe reach out to another family member.
I'm not sure about Texas, but here in California we have emancipation laws. You have to be working to qualify and then apply to the court through the proper channels. Contact a lawyer in your area. Best.
