My boyfriend is an illegal citizen and he has lived in the U.S 12 years and he has no criminal record whatsoever. Recently in the beginning of this month he received a traffic ticket for driving without a license. He has to attend court and was fined $1100 in which he has no problem paying. Should he hire a lawyer or just go by himself and pay the fine?
$4,000 just for driving without a license, unless the representation also includes representation in immigration proceedings, is unreasonable. Call around to other lawyers for other quotes.
I agree with Mr. Goldberg. That is not reasonable for handling the driving without a license charge alone. Your boyfriend should speak with an attorney before doing anything in court due to his status. Good luck!
