After living in our previous home for 12+ years, we owe $5000 for damages dealt from a bedbug infestation within the apartment complex by other tenants from said residence that were evicted and refused to pay. So this severely t-boned our housing situation this and last year. while we were looking for a new place to live. We, among many others from this complex, were all evicted for various reasons. Ours being this and verbal altercations with this horrible landlord about being stuck with someone else's bill after just barely managing to catch up on our own.
We have just moved into a new place after a severe year-long struggle looking for a place due to this and now find out after getting the electric bill in our name via phone, that our previous landlord NEVER switched the account out of our names after we left a year and a half ago and we now owe $1100 additional.
I refuse to pay for damages we didn't do, but we have been slowly. And now this? Come on..
Yes. Call the Cols Bar Assn for help. It is best.
