If minors go to that church, then a sex offender can not live with 1000 ft of that church. There is a high likelihood that minors go to that church.
Not sure you've pulled a current version of the statute. If you are having issues with the sex offender registry you need to consult with an attorney specializing in those issues before you get sideways with probation and end up back in custody. Is there a school in the church? Like even a Sunday school? If so, then "no" a registered sex offender cannot live near where kids congregate. Stop googling and get some experienced advice.
A sex offender would not be able to live anywhere near kids. Most churches conduct Sunday School and thus you would not be able to live in near the church.
