I was working in Alaska, and had my vehicle stored in Tacoma WA. I returned to find it missing and my storage locker broken into. I called the police and they attended the storage locker and I also informed them of my truck being missing. I was asked if I had the title, but the title was in my storage locker and the locker had been trashed as the thieves went through it. I assumed my truck was reported stolen at that time. I soon moved to Minnesota for another position. I received an email from the WA State Department of Licensing that my stolen vehicle had a change of ownership! I called the police to report it and they said they had not listed my vehicle as stolen. I then asked for it to be listed and explained it was already reported stolen. The then replied I would have to return to Tacoma to fill out the paperwork! I know from having served in the military that vehicles etc. would be report stolen while we were deployed, so why the delay?? I have to say the Tacoma police have disappointed me before and to get them to do anything is like pulling teeth. I need some advice, and possibly representation?
I am currently in Minnesota, but this occurred in Tacoma WA.
