I am a LPR (Green Card holder) based on granted asylum. If I want to travel outside US, do I have to get "Refugee Travel Document" first to be able to travel? or can I use only my green card to get back to US and it is enough? I need to travel very fast and I don't want to wait 3 months to get RTD. Can I do that? Please help.
No, you should get a Refugee Travel Document.
Mr. Shusterman's (former INS Trial Attorney, 1976-82) response to your question is general in nature, as not all the facts are known to him. You should retain an attorney experienced in immigration law to review all the facts in your case in order to receive advice specific to your case. Mr. Shusterman's statement above does not create an attorney/client relationship.
If your home country's passport still valid you should use it for travel, but renewing it would raise the immigration fraud. However, when you use your home country's passport ,CBP officers might be tough admitting you into USA or even denying to admit you, so you can do it on your risk. Best way is to file for Travel Document and attach a acceleration cover letter and explain why you need your travel Document process be accelerated. If officer approves, you might receive it in two months. I did for a client and worked.
