I hired this company for they said they are licensed only to find out later the guy lied about being licensed, I reported the company to NYDCA and demanded a full refund after they botched up the roofing job.
The unlicensed contractor may not be entitled to any compensation for his work and may be subject to civil and criminal liability. How much money are we talking about? If they do not refund your money after you point this out to them, you may want to retain an attorney or head to small claims court.
