y nephew just turned 7. He is living with his father who has 50/50 custody with the mother (my sister). He has stayed with me every other weekend and holidays for the last two years (while living with his father) and I have always been a big part of his life.
His father has been unemployed for 5 years but never really held a job, has a drug problem, no drivers licence and lives with his mother.
My nephew has gained 40 lbs since living with his father and now weighs what an average 14 year old weighs (again he just turned 7). His grades have been dropping and he is getting in trouble in school. He has a cavity in every single tooth. His grandmother also hits him with a belt.
Do I have a chance in CT to gain custody with open visitation for his parents? My sister, the mother, approves
Extremely difficult to get a third party custody order. You need counsel and you have a very uphill fight. Good luck
