My friend got arrested driving without license, criminal charges from the past like 18 yrs ago were dropped by judge! and $500 bail on the license violation that recently happened. Now they (rikers island jail) dont let us pay the bail due to the warrant? But that warrant has shown in his record for days now, and ice hasnt gotten involved. And charges were dropped. Just that bail is showing which we are willing to pay. I guess The jail doesn't know about the 48 hr rule with ice? Can that warrant be from the 509 VTL? WHICH HE GOT A 500$ BAIL!!!!
Bail would not still be showing if the charges were dropped. Something doesn't add up. The first place to start is with your friends current attorney. They know why the hold(s) are there and why he hasn't been released. They are a much better source of information than the guesses of lawyers who do it possess all the facts.

I doubt that its for the case where bail was set. Its an ICE warrant that is holding him in.
