even though I never used their services. It is because I signed the application when I called the clerk's office, she stated because I signed the application. This happened 15 years ago! Could anyone tell me if this can still be enforced! Can I lose my D.L. if I refuse to pay it? The collection agency tacked on 10.00 dollars! How can a city demand payment for this after 15 years!!! And how do I know that this money was not already embedded in the fines I already paid?! I paid this money for this when it was added onto the fine. It was stated this was for not signing a ticket. I never asked for an attorney for this. Am I allowed to go before a judge to dispute this matter? Any help regarding this concern would be very helpful. ARE THERE ANY STATUTE OF LIMITATION ON THIS MATTER?Can a Lawyer from this site PLEASE JUST ANSWER THE QUESTIONS I have set forth here?! IS THERE A STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS??? WOULD SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE THIS ANSWER?! ITS GETTING VERY FRUSTRATING TO ASK THE QUESTIONS AND GET NO ANSWERS BUT OPINIONS. We are supposed to ASK LEGAL QUESTIONS HERE ON AVVO! AND KIND LAWYERS ARE TAKING THE TIME TO ANSWER OUR QUESTIONS. ISN'T THIS HOW IT WORKS?!
It looks to me like there is no statute of limitations for court costs. See the link below, Florida Statutes 95.11(11). Public Defender fees are generally considered court costs, so you are probably stuck with it. Whether you already paid it, is another question. You'll probably have to get the records. Dispute the debt with the collection agency have them provide proof that you owe it. You could probably file a motion with the court and ask the judge to waive it or disallow it. Good Luck!
