I was driving my wife's car when I was pulled over and cited for expired registration. The vehicle had been registered 9 months prior but the new sticker had never been put up for display. The officer stated if I could show proof of registration at the court window I could get it dismissed. At the court window they said because I didn't register the vehicle in the same county and it wasn't registered within ten days of the ticket I had to pay the fine or go to court. I opted for court. Is it possible to have the judge dismiss this still?
Yes, you can try to get it dismissed. You would explain the situation to the prosecutor, and make sure you have correct sticker on car now. At this point, it would be the prosecutor dismissing, and not the judge.
Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.
