Tenant to be out on Wed, instead four days later is out , left mess and garbage and took cabinet. Called police and got it back 8 days later. What can I charge him. Mileage, cleaning, retrieval?
It depends in part of the rental agreement that you had, and the jurisdiction you are in--some cities, like Seattle, have specific ordinances that might restrict your claims depending on the situation. Offhand, I would say you might have a claim for 4 days' rent plus costs to clean/repair the place and any costs to re-install the cabinet. Mileage seems very unlikely, and unfortunately your aggravation is not likely to be compensated. But to get a good answer and some advice about your rights, you'd need to consult a lawyer who would review the rental agreement and ask you more questions about the full situation.

I only have the facts you gave me, and without a more complete consultation there could be other facts I don't know that could change what legal principles apply. Your issue may be time sensitive and may result in loss of rights if you do not obtain an attorney immediately.
