I sent in my taxes before October 15 and was told an employer of mine didn’t send in the proper paper work. There was a data matching issue. Now, after speaking to the irs they say send in my documents about my earnings. They say my numbers will be on file in 2 weeks but it takes 6 weeks to get any answer. So will this issue be cleared up in 2 weeks or 6?
Truthfully there is no real time frame for the IRS to answer. Their letters will provide you an estimated time frame for response. They do try to respond within the time stated, but many times it takes them a little longer. Other times they will respond by the stated time only to say they need additional time. You just have to wait for them to respond.
