I'm 17 and I stole from safeway. I already payed a $400 fine and they sent me a letter to go to a diversion court. Will it be on my record if I'm under 18?
If you have been offered a diversion in Juvenile court you will have the opportunity to avoid a conviction of any kind. In a juvenile diversion no charges are filed upon certain conditions, such as community service, stay in school, theft awareness class, alcohol treatment or whatever else the probation department deems appropriate. If you abide by the terms the case is closed after a certain amount of time. Be aware that if you fail the diversion they can wait until you are 18 and file charges in adult court.
