Can your employer suspend you on hearsay someone coming in and just saying you did something wrong like drinking when you didn't
Your boss can believe whomever he wishes and treat you badly. There is no law a manger has to be a good manager. The vast majority of managers are not good. As long as your manager gave you an opportunity to rebut what was said, that is about all he or she can do. Then the manger has to make a decision. The bar part, should not come into play as it is off site, but your being late does. You employer unfortunately can fire you or discipline you for a good reason, a bad reason, ,or no reason at all.
BUT, HOWEVER, if you are a protected group and you can show the treatment is not because of being late, but because you are in a protected group such over 40, disabled, minority, .....etc. then you can have a case. But these are very HARD cases to win. They are fact sensitive.
My advice is to try and never be late again. Come in extra early for the next few weeks and then just come in on time. Good luck.
