A couple weeks back, this company called me and told me that he was basically going to send me free magazines subscriptions. Today, I get a call from an unknown number. So I kept ignoring until I finally answered so they would stop calling. The lady told me that she had a $1500 bill to send to me for magazines (which I never even received) and that since I took so long to answer, she was going to send it to me. I told her to cancel it but she basically just said no. Must I pay this, or can I just trash it when I get it?
Since you never received the magazines, I would dispute this. I would write down a stateement regarding as much information as you can remember about the call offering you "free" magazines. If you have the ability to havea call log, check that and Google the phone number to get the name of the telemarketer. You are going to need this info.
When you receive a bill, you need to dispute this. Tell them you never ordered magazines and you never received them. And $1500? For what? That is one heck of a lot of magazines. Tell them that whatever you allegedly signed up for, you wish to cancel, effective immediately.
Send the letter to someone in authority at this company and send the letter certified return receipt requested. See what happens.
If you are still having problems, I can do a letter for you for a reasonable fee. Please contact me at [email protected] if you need more help.
I would call the Georgia Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs and make a complaint. The next time someone offers to send you something for free refuse.
