You have placed this question in the Car accident section, and it does not appear that there was an accident involved here.
However, I will attempt to answer your question. South Carolina is what is called an "At-Will Employment" state, which means that except for certain circumstances (such as discrimination as defined under federal law, contract issues if a contract is involved, and union issues if it is a union job) an employer can fire or suspend any employee without a valid reason.
You can still consult with an employment attorney in your area to go over her case in more detail. Use the "Find a lawyer" link at the top of the screen for the names of some employment attorneys in your area.
Please do not message me for further advice or call my former law firm if you have any further questions. If you are in need of an attorney to assist you, please search for another attorney in the jurisdiction involved in your case, as I am now retired, and my former law firm is no longer handling these types of cases. I am active on AVVO and answer questions only as a public service at this point.
