My husband was arrested for drug paraphernalia(marijuana)in our home. Theofficer said they were going to request to charge me as well because they had too. Last week a received a letter saying to complete Gila County Adult Diversion program or criminal charges will be filed. I have to call and set up an appt. To enter the program. Drug testing in mandatory and I am/was a pretty heavy smoker so depending on when the program starts, I will most likely fail. I'm being put on the program for a drug charge, so wouldn't it be normal to fail the first? How long after calling to schedule an appt, doest it usually take to begin program?
You're correct, it's quite common for people to test positive on the first round. That shouldn't kick you out of the program. As long as the levels decrease while you are on diversion it will show you're no longer using. Just schedule the classes and tell them you'll test positive the first time. You may be scheduled for a sooner second test, but again, as long as your levels go down you should be okay.
