I was admitted by University of Utah's medical school. In my application I wrote I have completed one year of in-state residency, but in fact I was missing two weeks because of urgent personal matters. The university asked me to prove my physical residency by witness testimony, and I have prepared fabricated testimonies provided by witnesses with days manipulated. I felt complicated that if they found out I was absent by checking my flight record or bank record. I knew that academic fraudulence can ruin my future medical career, I do not know if the university will check my flight record using SSN, for example. The risk is negligible but the possible consequence is unimaginable. What should I do? My plans are A: defer a year. B: choose a secondary choice med school. C: keep lying.I do not know if U of Utah has the technical expertise and interest to check my residency in detail. I assume not. But I cannot imagine being expelled from medical school because of this and ruin my whole career.
