I was driving about 45-50 mph when my brakes gave out as I was approaching a red light. I had no option but to slam into the car that was stopped ahead of me at the red light. Miraculously, nobody was injured, but I was given a ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. I don't believe it was my fault since my brakes just randomly stopped working, but I don't know if it is better to plead guilty or not guilty at my court date. What would you advise?
Get a lawyer. Please not guilty. Your admission of guilt could cause you a lot of civil problems if you are sued. Repeat: Get a lawyer.
Consult an attorney AND your insurance company. An admission or plea of guilty can be used against you if you are used civilly, which you probably will be. www.galivanlaw.net
