I made a right turn and I didn’t completely stop at the red light before proceeding with the right turn. All this was recorded on a photo and video camera and of course I’m guilty as charged. A week or 2 after I get the traffic violation in mail with $490 fee for this. When I did some online research about this, I got to know that I can ignore this ticket as it is voluntary to pay the fine in LA county. I also got to know that by ignoring it the city will probably send me another $300 fee for not paying and they would send it to collection agency however this will not go into my DMV record and it will not go into my credit record. Is this true? As an FYI, I ended up contacting the Santa Monica superior court & photo notice department as a matter of fact I was scared because this is the first time I received this. I understand that I've acknowledged about the ticket by calling them but I wanna know if they keep a track of every call they receive, if they do keep a track will they send a notice to DMV to suspend my license in case I don't pay the fine on or before the due date. Also, I wanna know that if I don't pay the fine will there be any points added on my DL. Thanks in advance
The decision to fight it or ignore is up to you. Google "red light photo camera tickets- Los Angeles County".
