i have full time regular job and i am also a freelance uber driver. for 2014 tax year i had not included the uber income (around 2k gross as per the 1099k received from uber). now i got a tax bill from IRS to pay tax on the reported 1099k figure which also includes uber commission and other charges.
Your return should be amended to reflect all unreported income and business expenses on Schedule C. Good luck. Zaher Fallahi, Tax Attorney, CPA.
Yes, you should amend your 1040 and include a Schedule C. This would not only include your income but your expenses for your Uber work Remember, you can probably deduct mileage or a percentage of your auto expenses,
Finally, check with your auto insurance broker to make sure you are covered for your Uber driving.
I hope this helps!
