I was trying to drive out of the parking lot of a supermarket. Before turning onto the main road, I had to stop under a tall, huge gate, where my vehicle was hit by a big chunk of snow falling from the rooftop of that gate (which is definitely a property of that supermarket). I immediately checked my vehicle and found a dent on my car's roof. So, damage caused.
I went back to the supermarket and talked to the manager. What he said really surprised me, he said "we should not be liable for any damage caused by that falling snow, because the snow came from the sky. And we are not responsible for removing the snow on the rooftop".
I was not quite convinced by the manager... So do you have any suggestions? Do you know any city bylaw that I can refer to regarding this?
