I was divorced in TX, by virtue of the agreement it was ordered in the Final Divorce Decree that I do not have to pay the child support unless I have a job. I do not have a job despite the fact that I am struggling. I am applying for a job that requires me to get the letter from SDU that I have no arrears. I have shown job people the divorce decree but still they want a letter. I called OAG and they ran the search and said that they do not have a case number for me.
1) Can OAG give me a letter that I do not have arrears?
2) Is it opening a can of worms? I have a decree that clearly states I do not have to until I get a job. My ex has never asked for it either.
3) Can OAG just give me in writing that this SSN has no arrears?
4) Does SDU give such a letter or OAG?
It is unlikely that you will force the OAG to give you anything they don't want to, without a court order. Your best bet is to get the statement "no case open for this SSN" in writing. I have never heard of the SDU or OAG issuing such a letter, but it costs nothing to ask. Good luck.
