Roommate stealing my mail.. what can I do?
Tonight they were gone and I went and looked on her bed, there I found my bank statements, mail from social security and other things..all had been opened and looked at. I feel sick to my stomach that they would do this to me.
What can I do about this? Can I report them to the post office? How would I prove I found all my mail on her bed opened?
I keep hearing this is a federal offense, but I have no idea what to do.
If anyone can help I'd very much appreciate it.

If they are stealing your mail, the best solution is throw them out or move. Who wants to live with liars and thieves? Cops and postal inspectors likely will not resolve the situation as it will be your word against theirs. So if it is your house, toss them out.
This is not legal advice but a general comment on society.
This is a very difficult situation. You may need to confront your roommate. You may need to file a report with the police and the postal inspector.
If you cannot get the issue resolved you may need to consider getting a box at the post office and having your mail sent there instead of to your home so that you can regain control over your mail.
You need to regularly review your bank statements and your credit report to ensure that there is not more going on than you know about. It is hard to imagine an honest motive for reading your bank statements and social security information.
