Rental Manager Problem
We have been living in these apartments since 2014 July. We are facing a problem with the current rental manager who has been here since May 2021. We noticed water damage in the cabinet under the kitchen sink and reported it to the office. The maintenance person came in the next day and examined the cabinets and told us the cabinets on that side of the kitchen need to be replaced. This was on 12th July 2021. The manager never got back to us about when it would be fixed. When we called to inquire, the manager said that since we didn't report the damage earlier and the damage was extensive so we had to pay for the repairs. We agreed to pay and asked her how soon will they fix it possibly. She was extremely vague in her response saying she was trying to get the best quote for the repairs. She never cared to update us after that and whenever we call, either the calls go unanswered or exact same vague, callous response. We are moving out by the end of the year ( we haven't informed the office yet ), and we are suspecting the rental manager is trying to charge us fraudulently for the repair once we move out. Please help.

What you provided is a little confusing. Please talk to a Land-Tenant attorney before you proceed forward. Do NOT COMMIT to anything. Avvo has a "Find a Lawyer" feature that will assist in finding one near you.
It's unclear about the nature and extent of the water damage. Whether you are liable for all or part of the damage is an open question.
If you have not told your landlord you are moving out at the end of the year; how can she be waiting to charge you when you move out on some date in the future?
