My son attends Charter school in Queens, NY. The school is asking for an up to date immunization but I don't have one. I refuse to vaccinate my son because he has Kidney problems. I'm afraid doing so will cause him more harm than good. What can I do to inform the school and state of my refusal without them taking my child out of school or worse? Thank you
Hi. You have to get a letter from his physician stating that his kidney condition makes it dangerous for him to receive immunizations.
Though understandable, t is not sufficient to state you are fearful. Vaccinationsis are a legal requirement and the exception are few as a matter of public policy.
That is correct. You must have authentic medical documentation that vaccination is a true medical risk for your child.
